Project Notes

This project started as simple cabinets replacement in an older Palo Alto home. However, in the process, the project developed into a full remodeling which resulted in a gorgeous kitchen of "old world charm" style and modern amenities.

The most difficult challenge was replanning the existing space. No walls could be moved or relocated, and every wall had an opening of some sort - a window or a door. After hours and hours of sketching and drafting, we presented a plan that addressed all needs of the customer and more! The short run of outdated cabinets was replaced with new maple cabinets with roll-out trays, spice pull-outs, recycling center. A center island with seating for two and open bookshelves replaced the existing, rarely used table. A new Buffet/Wine station provided additional storage and countertop space. A true bonus was a tall pantry cabinet with additional display for antique glasses. The new professional range received a functional exhaust vent, which had been missing in the old kitchen. To save space in a small room, a microwave hood combination was used.

The next difficulty presented itself in balancing the selected style of the kitchen with the professional oversized appliances and stainless steel fixtures. We chose to create a focal point using subway tile in creamy tones. The cabinetry was specified with furniture paneled ends, baker pull hardware, the back of the island received a cottage V-groove paneling and helped create "old world" feel. Janice chose antique glass inserts for the cabinet doors that display fully her collection of vintage china.

Janice was a joy to work with. She organized her time to keep all necessary design appointments, trips to the tile and plumbing stores, provided great feedback. The material selections she made reflected her own personality and personality of her home.

5 Stars - I Love My Kitchen!!!

If the horrors of a kitchen remodel can be made easier Kitchen Galleries did that for me. Marina and Dario came up with a design and ideas that I would not have imagined possible with the limits of my space. They went beyond just the design phase and helped to find a terrific contractor, and were available for each of the many decisions that needed to be made. I felt comfortable walking into their office with five different floor tiles and asking for their opinion. They added their expertise to all aspects of the remodel, including hand picking the slabs of granite. I could not be happier with the results, and I highly recommend Kitchen Galleries.
